an artful life

Growing up amid the lush greens of rural Illinois, I spent my childhood trekking through the woods surrounding our family farm and immersing myself in the vibrant palette of my mother’s flower gardens. Those early encounters with the colors, shapes, and rhythms of flora and fauna sparked the foundation of my artistic vision. Later, studying art and design in the majestic mountains of Colorado and time spent on the golden plains of the Midwest deepened my love for nature’s boundless forms and hues, shaping the artist I am today.

With nearly three decades as an art director, designer, and illustrator, I approach my craft with disciplined dedication. This is no mere pursuit, but a lifelong commitment, of using my artistic gifts to play for keeps.

Since the early 2010s, I’ve exhibited on and off in galleries across the United States. Today, my practice is predominantly commission-based, though I still delight in creating a series or two each year, along with the occasional one-off piece.

Now based in Kansas City, my canvases draw from the organic vitality of the natural world, infused with the expansive sweep of the American landscape. I admire Brice Marden’s elegant minimalism and Chuck Close’s unwavering perseverance, “Inspiration’s for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work.”

My work celebrates life’s vivid, harmonious energy in all its untamed beauty. Beyond painting, my passions in art and life include writing, drawing, and most of all the sound of my kids and partner laughing.
